A Paldi-based visa and tour agency in Ahmedabad reportedly perpetrated a scam, defrauding a few innocent foreign job aspirants of ₹22 lakh.

The complaint was filed by Rajasthan’s Kashmiruddin Qureshi, who described that the fraud began in Nov 2022 when a person named Mustaq Ansari informed Qureshi about a certain S D tours and travels agency, situated opposite Kochrab Ashram in Paldi.

Qureshi was informed that there were vacancies in Cambodia.

Qureshi, along with his acquaintance Ansari, visited the Paldi office to further inquire about jobs.

Agency offered job in Cambodia

The scammers, including Munna Chauhan, Dinesh Yadav, and Vidhyasagar, offered job opportunities like driver, helper, and worker in Cambodia with a promising salary.

The accused asked for passports and other documents for the process to get the victims to Cambodia and demanded ₹1.40 lakh per person.

Apart from Qureshi, many others had also paid the agency to reach Cambodia.

 The fraud

The foreign aspirants were told to reach Delhi and collect their tickets for the Delhi-Bangkok-Cambodia flight on Aug 25, and they paid for the same.

The accused issued duplicate tickets, avoided their phone calls and are currently absconding. They even took the passports of all the individuals. The distraught individuals also visited the agency’s office in Paldi, only to find out that the agency was abandoned by the accused.

A primary investigation estimated that looted funds might be above ₹22 lakh.
