Gujarat: 100 talukas get 1-10 inches of rain, reaches 90% of season’s rainfall

After a hiatus in August, rains have now returned to Gujarat in September. On Sept 17, it rained in 175 talukas of Gujarat. In 100 of those, the rainfall clocked at 1 to 10 inches. Godhra and Shehra of Panchmahal district received the highest rainfall of 10 inches. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in the state for the next four days.

The state has so far received 91% of the season's rainfall with an average of 32 inches. By the end of August, it had decreased by 15%. An average of 1 inch of rain fell in August, compared to which about 4 inches of rain fell in 10 days of September.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall in Aravalli, Kheda, Panchmahal-Dahod, Mahisagar, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Anand, and Vadodara.

Heavy in Banaskantha, Patan, Chotaudepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Tapi, Surat, Surendranagar, Bhavnagar, and Botad.

Sept 19

Heavy to very heavy in Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, and Mahisagar.

Heavy in Kheda, Ahmedabad, Panchmahal, Surendranagar, and Kutch.

Sept 20

Heavy to very heavy over Banaskantha, Patan, and Kutch.

Heavy in Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Surendranagar, and Morbi.

Two army teams were also deployed in Vadodara.

207 people rescued from 8 talukas

Today, 207 people have been rescued from eight talukas of five districts due to heavy rains. In which 48 people from Vadodara, 2 from Bharuch, 80 from Narmada, 7 from Dahod, and 70 from Panchmahal districts were rescued and moved to a safe place.
