Guj police nab 2,789 absconding accused in one year
Under the newly appointed commissioner G S Malik, cops have nabbed 72 accused in just one month under the PASA (Prevention of Anti-Social Activities) Act

Gujarat police have nabbed as many as 2,789 accused who were absconding after committing crimes in the last five years, revealed the latest review by IPS Vikas Sahay.
Of these, 612 accused had been escaping the clutches of police for five or more years, while 626 accused were running away from the clutches of the cops for two to five years.
Ahd police nabbed 72 culprits on IPS Malik’s orders
To curb the criminal activities in the city, Ahmedabad police apprehended a total of 72 culprits within a span of just one month, under the PASA (Prevention of Anti-Social Activities) Act.
Under the firm directives of Ahmedabad’s newly appointed police commissioner, G S Malik, from Aug 1 to Aug 31, these 72 accused individuals found themselves behind the bars for various crimes committed by them.
Culprits sent to different jails
A total of 21 accused have been sent to Vadodara Jail, out of which eight were caught for offences related to the body, six related to property, and seven under prohibition.
20 accused have been sent to Bhuj Jail, 16 to Rajkot Jail, and 15 to Surat Jail.
Out of 72 accused caught by IPS Malik, 29 were caught for offences related to the body, 22 for property-related crimes, and 21 for crimes under prohibition.
Most of the accused were caught in Banaskantha
174 accused were caught in Ahmedabad, 250 in Surat, 131 in Rajkot, 104 in Sabarkantha, 106 in Panchmahal-Godhra, 270 in Dahod, 100 in Surat (rural), 122 in Valsad, and 276 in Banaskantha.
The accused who were caught were involved in serious crimes including murder, attempted murder, extortion, robbery, creating fear or terror in society, and offences against the human body.
IPS Sahay has been directed to continue this campaign vigorously in the upcoming years to ensure justice and safety for the citizens.
