During the COVID-19 pandemic period, an alleged unlawful distribution of Remdesivir injections from Surat’s BJP office attracted a public interest litigation (PIL) against BJP state president CR Patil and minister of home for the state Harsh Sanghavi, which has now been quashed by the Gujarat High Court.

Congress leader Paresh Dhanani withdrew his PIL involving investigation of Patil and Sanghavi after HC’s verdict of giving clean chit to the BJP leaders.

An inquiry committee was constituted under the supervision of state Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) commissioner for the investigation in the case.

Based on the committee’s report, the bench of Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal and Justice Aniruddha Mayee held that there was no misconduct in the case.

The report found ‘no violation of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940’.
