GSRTC launches UPI digital payment service to buy tickets
2,000 new UPI machines have been provided in ST Corporation buses
“Chhuta aapo,” is the one line that you would undoubtedly hear from the bus conductor when on a public transport. This is about to ‘change’. Quite literally.
Most of the passengers travelling through public transport have been into a situation where either them, or the conductor, would not have change with them, leading to letting go off the change, or waiting for someone else to pay to get the change back.
In the era of digitisation where payments can be made through UPIs and digital wallets, this was something that was lacking in ‘Digital India’.
Finally, the commuters of Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) will get the facility to buy tickets by paying through UPI (Unified Payment Interface).
The minister of state transport, Harsh Sanghvi, flagged off the 40 new buses from Gandhinagar ST depot today.
The new buses have been inducted in the ST department in one year, said Sanghvi. He added, “Passengers will get better facilities on every bus. About 2,000 new buses will be introduced in the coming year. 2,000 new UPI machines have been provided in ST Corporation buses.”
The ST department is prepared for the upcoming festivities. Said Sanghvi, “Out of 40 new buses, 15 have been allocated to Ahmedabad and 7 to Mehsana. Apart from that, 10 buses have been allotted to Vadodara, 6 to Godhra, and 6 to Bharuch.”
