GSRDC clears more than 200 illegal structures from Halol-Shamlaji Highway in Panchmahal

Mega demolition was carried out by the administration on Tuesday on the Halol-Shamlaji State Highway passing through Shahra town of Panchmahal district. Encroachment drive was carried out to remove the traffic problem caused by the unpaved embankments on both sides of the highway, the GSRDC (Gujarat State Road Development Corporation Limited) and the local administration took joint action and opened the roads.

According to the information, demolition was started on the main road from Sahera bus station area to Aniyad Chokdi with the help of JCB machines from early morning. The sheet metal sheds, shop sheds and other illegal structures that were obstructing the highway were demolished. Tight police security was deployed at the site to prevent any untoward incident.

High officials of the administration were present at the site in this demolition operation, in which the Deputy Executive Engineer of GSRDC, City Provincial Officer, Municipal Chief Officer and Toll Department officials were present.

Notices were given before any actions were taken

Earlier, the GSRDC had issued legal notices to more than 200 encroachments to voluntarily remove the encroachments. As soon as the term expired, the administration started removing the encroachments with a red eye today.
