Groom, 150 guests fall ill in Navsari after wedding feast, food poisoning suspected
As many as 155 people, including the groom, fell ill due to suspected food poisoning after attending a wedding feast in Amalsad village of Navsari district.
After having the dinner at the wedding, the guests had complained of nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea. The precious movement soon turned into panic as several people complained of poor health.
Around 155 guests, including the groom, Neil Tandel, son of Bhupendra Tandel, were affected. About 60 people were admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment, while others were given primary medical care and later discharged.
The incident occurred late in the evening during the wedding ceremony, just before the groom was scheduled to leave Jalalpore.
Health officials suspected that one of the food items served at the wedding may have been contaminated. The menu included chole-puri, paneer vegetable, salad, curry rice, fried snacks, and milk halwa for dessert. The exact cause is yet to be confirmed.
As soon as the incident was reported, teams from the Navsari health department reached the spot. Health officer Bhavesh Patel said that a special medical team has been deployed in the village. Officials are also monitoring the health of guests who returned to other villages after the event.
