The Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) is under growing criticism from thousands of aspirants after the Class 1 and 2 recruitment process (2023–24) remains stalled for over a year. While the preliminary exam was conducted in January 2024 and the mains exam took place in October 2024, the GPSC has still not announced the mains results, leaving nearly 9,900 candidates in limbo.

Candidates say they are facing severe confusion and financial stress as the commission has not provided any clarity on when the results will be declared or when the interview round will begin. Several candidates have also submitted representations to the commission demanding transparency and a timeline.

A major grievance among aspirants is that the GPSC currently has only a Chairman and one member, with five member posts lying vacant. Candidates allege that despite the pending mains results, new recruitment notifications and exams are repeatedly being announced, making it uncertain whether they should prepare for fresh exams or wait for the current cycle to move forward.

Many candidates complain that even after repeated queries, the commission only responds by saying, “Keep checking the website,” without offering any concrete update. For a recruitment advertisement issued nearly two years ago, the final selection process has still not concluded.

Candidates say the prolonged delay has created anxiety, especially since the shortage of commission members also raises questions about how interviews will be conducted once results are declared.

With no official statement from GPSC, thousands of aspirants continue to wait in frustration, hoping for clarity on the mains result and interview schedule.
