Govt official returns rs 25000 after Rajkot MP intervention

Rajkot Member of Parliament Rambhai Mokariya helped a citizen recover ₹25,000 that was allegedly extorted illegally by a government official.

“A Rajkot-based businessman approached MP Rambhai Mokariya with a complaint that a government officer had demanded a bribe of ₹25,000 to settle a certain matter,” according to a statement by Mokariya.

The government official settled ₹25,000 from his shop near University Road.

Upon receiving the complaint, Rambhai Mokariya took immediate action. He also reprimanded the concerned official over a phone call and ensured that the ₹25,000 was returned to the citizen.

The statement claimed that in mere 10 minutes, the businessman got his ₹25,000 back, with the help of Mokariya.

Mokariya urged citizens to reach out if any government official demands a bribe in his official statement released after the incident.

While the MP’s action of recovering the bribe money was applauded, many highlighted the fact that he did not reveal the name of the bribe-seeking official or the department.

Some have raised concerns about why the MP chose not to file an official complaint against the officer, despite the seriousness of the matter.
