Test results for the samples taken from the Gota ward, where residents allegedly fell ill after consuming contaminated water, revealed that water collected from Akanksha Flat, Navratna Avenue, and Vardhman Flat were unfit for consumption, confirming that the water supplied to residents was unsafe for drinking.

Earlier reports surfaced of around 1,000 residents from Akanksha Flats, Vande Mataram Flats, Navratna Avenue Apartments, and Vinayak Bungalows in the Gota and Thaltej areas suffered from diarrhoea, vomiting, and other illnesses after consuming contaminated drinking water, triggering panic among civic authorities.

Over 30 people were hospitalised after consuming the water.

Residents had been complaining to the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) for nearly four days, but alleged that officials failed to take the issue seriously, allowing the situation to worsen.

After authorities allegedly failed to act on repeated complaints, residents staged protests on June 3, prompting the administration to intervene. Subsequently, officials from the municipal health department visited the area and collected water samples from storage tanks in several housing societies.

The test results revealed that water samples collected from three AMC were unfit for consumption.

It is worth noting that this area falls under the constituency of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
