Google to invest ₹1000 cr in India's digitization

Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced on June 23 that the company will open a global fintech operations centre in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT), Gujarat. The company will invest $10 billion (₹1000 cr) in India's digitalization fund.
Pichai made the announcement following a meeting with Indian prime minister Narendra Modi. Google’s CEO also praised the ‘Digital India’ initiative of the government.
More Indian languages on Google’s AI chatbot
Pichai emphasised that Google’s investments in India will be focused on artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives, such as the creation of technology to support Indian languages. He revealed intentions to make Google's AI-powered voice assistant, Bard, available in more Indian languages shortly.
According to Pichai, Google aims to build on India’s fintech foundation of UPI and Aadhaar services and take that foundation and take it globally.
