Godhra locals alert loco pilot, prevent train from hitting 25,000 KV cable

A major train accident was averted near Pandiapura village in Godhra taluka of Panchmahal district on Monday afternoon. 

An overhead 25,000 KV high-tension railway power cable broke after being hit by stones from a nearby mine that exploded.

When locals saw a train approaching the cable, displaying alertness and courage, they immediately acted to stop it.

They took off their shirts and waved at the approaching train. The train slowed down and stopped, averting a major accident.

As a result of this incident, railway traffic between Godhra and the Anand section was disrupted. Upon learning of the situation, police and senior railway officials rushed to the site and began repair work on the cable. Railway authorities have also initiated an investigation into the incident.
