Ahead of the Lok Sabha election in 2024, Congress has witnessed yet another blow, this time from the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC), as two corporators resigned.

The GMC has now become Congress-free as corporators Ankit Barot and Gajendrasinh Vaghela have also resigned from the Congress.

With their resignation, only one corporator is left in opposition in GMC.

Both the corporators are set to join the BJP, as per sources. If that happens, the BJP’s tally in GMC will be 43 out of 44.

Earlier, many Congress councillors and leaders resigned and parted ways with the party, causing significant disruption.
