Gas shortage hits Central University of Gujarat, mess menu curtailed

The impact of the ongoing geopolitical situation has now reached educational institutions, with the Central University of Gujarat (CUG) announcing changes to its hostel mess menu due to disruption in gas supply.

According to an official notice issued by the university, there is a widespread shortage of gas cylinders, affecting regular cooking operations. The administration has stated that efforts are being made to ensure continuous availability of gas, but until the situation normalises, alternative arrangements have been put in place.

To avoid disruption in mess services, the university, in consultation with student mess representatives, has decided to trim the existing menu. Authorities have assured that despite the reduction, nutritious and healthy food will continue to be served to hostel residents and other users.

In the notice issued by the Chairperson of the Mess Committee and the Dean of Students’ Welfare (DSW), students have been urged to cooperate and understand the current situation.

However, the university has not specified what changes have been made to the menu or which food items have been reduced, leaving students unclear about the extent of the revision.
