Gang steals jewellery worth ₹3.13 lakh from showroom in Ahmedabad, CCTV captures act

A gang targeting jewellery showrooms by diverting staff attention has once again become active in Ahmedabad. An incident of theft worth over ₹3.13 lakh was reported from a jewellery showroom in the Anandnagar area, where a 12-year-old boy allegedly stole gold ornaments while posing as a customer.
The incident was captured on CCTV, following which police have initiated an investigation.
According to the complaint, 30-year-old Bhaveshkumar Mali, a resident of Makarba and an employee at Shri Laxmi Jewellers near Hariom Chali in Anandnagar, was on duty on November 23 when a group entered the shop pretending to be customers.
Initially, a man and a woman along with a 12-year-old child asked to see gold bangles. Shortly after, another man and woman entered the showroom and engaged the salesman by asking to see silver items.
Taking advantage of the distraction, the gang signalled the child, who quickly slipped his hand into the glass counter and took a small pouch containing gold ornaments. The group then left the shop without making any purchase.
Later, during stock verification, it was found that 48 gold bangles worth ₹3,13,040 were missing.
Police have registered a case and launched a search for the accused based on CCTV footage.
