Gandhinagar school principal's son booked for alleged assault of Class 10 hostel student

A case has been reportedly registered against the son of a private school principal in Gandhinagar for allegedly sexually assaulting a Class 10 student staying in the school's hostel, police said.
As per reports, the FIR was lodged at the Sector-21 police station under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
According to the complaint, the minor student, who belongs to an economically weaker family, was residing in the hostel while preparing for his Class 10 board examinations, as per reports.
The complainant alleged that during this period, the accused called the student to meet him and gradually gained his trust before allegedly subjecting him to inappropriate physical contact.
The complaint reportedly also alleged that the accused later took the student to his room and sexually assaulted him on multiple occasions against his will.
Despite the alleged incidents, the victim continued his studies and appeared for the board examinations. After the exams, however, the family has alleged that even after he returned home, the accused reportedly continued to contact the student and pressurise him.
As per the complaint, the prolonged issue adversely affected the student's mental well-being and academic performance. Family members grew concerned upon noticing behavioural changes in the minor and, upon questioning him, learnt of the alleged abuse.
The family thereafter approached the police, following which the FIR was registered.
The police have registered a case on the basis of a complaint alleging sexual abuse of a minor by the principal's son. Further investigation is underway.
