The second alleged suicide involving a police personnel in Gandhinagar district this year has raised fresh concerns within the police force. Parv Vinodbharti Goswami (28), a police constable posted at Mansa Police Station, was found hanging at his residence on Monday night.

According to police, Goswami, a native of Mehsana, had been serving at Mansa Police Station for the past two years. He lived with his wife and young son in Gandhinagar.

The incident occurred when Goswami was alone at home after his wife had stepped out for some work. Upon returning, she allegedly found him hanging inside the house and immediately alerted authorities.

Senior officials from Mansa Police Station rushed to the scene after receiving information about the incident. The body was sent for post-mortem examination, and legal procedures have been initiated.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a family dispute may have been a contributing factor, although police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

Earlier in 2026, head constable Upendrasinh Vaghela of Sector-7 police station in Gandhinagar was also found hanging at his residence in Pethapur.

The back-to-back incidents have renewed concerns about the mental health and well-being of police personnel in Gujarat. Discussions have intensified over the pressures faced by police personnel, including long working hours, continuous duty assignments, VIP security deployments and limited time with family due to professional commitments.

Police officials are conducting further investigations to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the incident.
