The death toll in the collapse of the Gambhira bridge, which connects Vadodara and Anand, has touched 15.

In response, the Roads and Buildings Department has now formed a six-member committee to investigate the incident. This committee will examine the reasons behind the bridge collapse, assess damages, and investigate any negligence involved.

A detailed report will be submitted to the Gujarat government within 30 days, along with recommendations to prevent such incidents in the future.

The team of officers from the R&B Department arrived at the site early on Thursday morning to conduct a high-level investigation. The committee included chief engineers C Patel and N K Patel, along with superintending engineers K M Patel, M B Desai, and N V Rathva.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other rescue teams continued search and rescue operations. Collector Anil Dhamelia and other officials reached the site in the morning to inspect the operations.

Police teams remained at the site overnight to assist with ongoing efforts. During the NDRF-led search operation, one more body was recovered, which was sent to the Padra Community Health Centre.

Additionally, officers from the Gujarat Pollution Control Board conducted a site inspection on Thursday morning. Instructions have also been given by the Collector to demolish any remaining parts of the collapsed bridge if required for safety.
