The Gaikwad Haveli Police Station has solved a murder case within hours of the crime, arresting three accused in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 26-year-old man in the Jamalpur area of the city, police said on Thursday.

According to a police official, the murder took place on the night of January 21, when the victim, identified as Akash Babubhai Ode, was attacked with a knife and later succumbed to his injuries. A case was registered at Gaikwad Haveli Police Station under Sections of the BNS and Section of the Gujarat Police Act.

Acting on specific information, Senior Police Inspector Chirag Gosai formed multiple teams and launched a swift investigation. The teams analysed CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas, questioned informants and tracked the movements of the suspects. Based on the evidence collected, three accused were arrested.

The arrested persons have been identified as Meet alias Lalo Rameshbhai Khemabhai Rathod (20), a resident of  Behrampura, originally from Patan district; Saheed Amjad Khan Pathan, a resident of Danilimda; and Sohil Idrishbhai Nirashi (19), a resident of Danilimda.

Police said the motive for the crime was previous enmity. On the night of January 20, an altercation reportedly broke out under Suvidha Flats when the deceased and his associates arrived on a motorcycle and argued with the main accused. The dispute escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in lingering hostility.

The following night, the accused allegedly chased the deceased and his friends and intercepted them near Alankar Driving School in Jamalpur. During the confrontation, Meet alias Lalo allegedly stabbed Akash multiple times in the stomach and body with a knife, causing fatal injuries.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
