From corporator to cabinet minister, Nimu Bambhaniya in Modi 3.0 govt
After winning with flying colours from the Bhavnagar Lok Sabha constituency, Nimu Bambhaniya has been given a ministerial position in the Modi 3.0 cabinet as a minister of state.
Dr Bharati Shiyal’s ticket was given to 57-year-old Nimu Bambhaniya, a woman face from the Koli community and a teacher by profession.
She defeated Umesh Makwana of the Aam Aadmi Party with a significant majority of 4.55 lakh votes in the Lok Sabha elections. Bambhaniya is among the top ten candidates who won with the majority and BJP’s woman candidate who secured the highest number of votes.
Bhambhaniya, who has completed her education up to BSc, BEd, has been a corporator in Ward No. 13 of the Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) from 2005 to 2020. She has a history of receiving the highest number of votes against competitors in these local elections. Therefore, from 2009 to 2010 and from December 2015 to June 2018, she also served as the Mayor of the BMC for two terms.
She has been district vice president of Bhavnagar City BJP, president of Bhavnagar City BJP Mahila Morcha, and vice president of Gujarat State BJP Mahila Morcha
Moreover, she has also taken charge of inspecting the election as an election observer appointed by the district officer. She has been a member of various Koli community organisations and associations and the Red Cross in Bhavnagar.
Bambhaniya started her political journey as a corporator, and today reached the position of state minister in the central government.
