Frequent adjournments delaying judicial process: Gujarat HC Chief Justice
Bar Council launches digital platform to expedite legal proceedings

At the launch of Gujarat Bar Council's new website and mobile app, Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court Sunita Aggarwal cautioned about the detrimental impact of repeated adjournments in court cases. The practice of seeking frequent date extensions, she emphasised, had significantly delayed the judicial process and caused undue hardships for litigants.
Bar Council as a bridge: Chief Justice Aggarwal also underscored the pivotal role played by the bar council in connecting the bench with those seeking justice. She commended the council for publishing a book containing her significant judgments and stressed the importance of timely disposal of cases and maintaining integrity within the legal profession
It should be our collective effort to maintain harmony between the bar and the bench and to further strengthen the justice system, she said.
Technological advancements: The newly launched mobile app and website offer lawyers convenient access to up-to-date legal information, judgments, and various services.
This digital leap aims to streamline processes, reducing the need for physical visits to the bar council for routine matters.
Chief Justice Aggarwal's remarks highlight the urgency of timely justice delivery and the transformative potential of technology in enhancing the legal system's efficiency.
Stating the benefits of the Bar Council's mobile app, Anil C Kella, Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Gujarat Bar Council, said, “Lawyers will benefit from the Law Herald and the Gujarat Bar Council’s mobile app. With the mobile app, lawyers can conveniently download forms for identity cards, name changes, address changes, death claims, sickness benefits, and renewal fees for their welfare fund from the comfort of their homes and pay the fees online. With the Law Herald mobile link, lawyers can access and study the judgments of the Gujarat High Court and Supreme Court in digital format.”
