Four youths drown during Holi celebrations in Mahisagar district

A tragic incident was reported from Raghavna Muwada area of Kothamba in Mahisagar district, where four youths lost their lives after drowning while celebrating Holi and Dhuleti.
According to information, the youths had gone to Naka Talav to bathe as part of the festive celebrations. During the bath, all four accidentally slipped into deep water and were swept away. On receiving information, Kothamba police along with local swimmers rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.
Two of the youths were pulled out of the water but were declared dead on the spot, while the other two were rushed to the civil hospital in Lunawada for treatment. However, despite medical efforts, the remaining two youths also succumbed during treatment, taking the death toll to four.
The deceased have been identified as Amit Bariya, Vipul Bariya, Jayesh Bariya and Tushar Bariya, all residents of Qatar village. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the village, with Holi festivities turning into mourning.
Police have initiated further legal procedures, and authorities have once again appealed to people to exercise caution while entering water bodies, especially during festive occasions.
