In a tragic incident of a gas leak in Mangrol near Surat today, four workers lost their lives due to suffocation in the factory. The dead bodies of the workers were taken to a hospital in Kim. Police have n arrested the factory owner.
Four workers lose their lives suffocating in toxic gas
Five workers were present in a chemical godown in the Mota Borsara area of Mangrol taluka.
The lid of a chemical drum containing toxic chemicals was suddenly lifted, which resulted in the deaths of four individuals while the remaining one person became unconscious.
Mangrol Mamalatdar addressed the incident
Mangrol taluka mamalatdar and the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) team had also reached the scene .
The taluka mamalatdar said that the material stored in the factory belonged to Neelam industries at Mota Borsara village, where the incident took place. He informed that five people had opened the lid of a drum containing toxic chemicals, and all five of them became unconscious due to the toxic fumes.
Action taken and aid provided in the tragedy
The workers were shifted to the nearby Sadhana Hospital in Kim. Four out of the five workers have been declared dead, and one, who is in an unconscious condition, is under treatment.
Police have made an arrest of the factory owner in this case. The GPCB has also started an investigation into this matter by collecting samples.
