Four killed, five injured in multi-vehicle collision on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Vadodara

Four persons were killed and five others seriously injured in a collision involving a car, a bus and an Eicher truck on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Samiyala village in Padra taluka of Gujarat's Vadodara district late on Saturday night.

According to preliminary information, a total of eight persons were travelling in the car involved in the accident.

Police said the car was travelling towards Ahmedabad-Mehsana when it allegedly entered the wrong side of the expressway. It subsequently collided head-on with a bus and an Eicher truck coming from the opposite direction.

Four persons in the car died on the spot, while five others sustained serious injuries and were shifted to different hospitals in Vadodara for treatment.

Doctors said the condition of the injured was critical.

Preliminary information suggests that the victims were residents of Ampad village near Padra.

The accident caused traffic disruption on the expressway for some time. Police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations to extricate those trapped inside the vehicle.

Police have registered a case and initiated further investigation into the incident.
