Four held for kidnapping, robbery of Angadia employee in Viramgam

The Ahmedabad Rural Local Crime Branch (LCB) has arrested four men for allegedly kidnapping and robbing an angadia employee near Viramgam earlier this week. The accused had abducted the victim in a car and looted cash and valuables worth ₹15,200 before releasing him.
According to police officials, on October 13, the complainant was abducted by four unidentified men in a white WagonR car near the Viramgam bus station on the Viramgam–Dhangadhra highway. The accused assaulted him, looted ₹3,700 in cash, a mobile phone worth ₹10,000, and a smartwatch worth ₹1,500, and later dumped him on the roadside. A case was registered at Viramgam Town Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for kidnapping and robbery.
Following the incident, Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Jat directed the LCB to launch an intensive probe. Separate teams were formed under Police Inspector R N Karamatiya, who scrutinised CCTV footage from the area and questioned commuters and locals. Based on specific human intelligence inputs, the LCB team traced down the accused and arrested them.
Those arrested have been identified as
Paras Dharmeshbhai Sadhu, resident of Surendranagar district
Mayurkumar Arjanbhai Handa, resident of Sanand
Rakesh Devsibhai Rojasara, currently residing in Sanand
Umesh Melabhai Solamiya, resident of Sanand
During interrogation, the accused reportedly told police that they committed the offence to fund their Diwali celebrations. Investigations revealed that the group had conducted reconnaissance of the victim before the abduction.
Police have recovered the stolen mobile phones, cash, and a Maruti Swift car used in the crime, worth a total of ₹5.23 lakh. The accused have been handed over to the Viramgam Town Police for further investigation.
An officer involved in the probe said, “The team worked round the clock to trace the accused within days of the incident. Their swift action led to the recovery of stolen property and the vehicle used in the offence.”
Police officials said further investigation is underway to determine if the accused were involved in similar crimes elsewhere.
