Four Gujarat doctors suspended for misconduct
The Gujarat Medical Council (GMC) has suspended the licenses of four doctors for various reasons, including filing false insurance claims, poor patient conduct, and providing incorrect treatment.
The decision to suspend the licenses of these four specialist doctors was made during a GMC meeting chaired by Dr Nitin Wora.
Gynaecologist Dr Vilyesh Ghetia, and paediatrician Dr Manali Ghetia, both from Vadodara, were found guilty of submitting false insurance claims. Dr Manali admitted herself as an in-patient at her own Dwenz Multispeciality hospital and used a fraudulent signature of Dr Vilesh to claim insurance. After the insurance company’s complaint was proven, licenses of both doctors were suspended for a month.
Dr Pravin Vainsh, an orthopaedic surgeon at Veraval Civil Hospital, faced complaints of poor behaviour towards patients. Despite being summoned four times by the council, he failed to appear. Consequently, his licence was suspended according to rule 8.5 of the IMC Regulations 2002 until he appears in person before the council.
Dr Pallav Patel from Poojan Orthopedic Hospital in Himatnagar was found guilty of issues related to a patient’s leg surgery and complaints even after discharge. A video complaint, verified as authentic by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), led to the suspension of his licence for one month.
