Four Gujarat cops suspended for foreign trip while employed
In light of government employees going on holidays while still employed, four police officers who went abroad while still employed were suspended by Director General of Police (DGP) Vikas Sahay, and an inquiry has been ordered against nine other police officers.
Following a report by Nirlipt Rai, head of the State Monitoring Cell (SMC), DGP Vikas Sahay has taken strict action. As part of this, four officers – Head Constable Firoz Khan Pathan (Botad), Police Constable Harvijay Singh Chavda (Amreli), Mahipatsinh Chauhan (Jamnagar), and Mahendrasinh Darbar (Jamnagar) – have been suspended. Additionally, nine other police officers are facing departmental investigations.
It is noteworthy that 13 police officers were transferred from Ahmedabad city to other districts last November. These 13 officers, who were working as Head Constables and Constables at various police stations in Ahmedabad, were allegedly involved in illegal activities, including extorting money in the names of police inspectors, ACPs, or DCPs at police stations other than their own.
Preliminary investigations had revealed that these officers, instead of using official funds for station operations, were collaborating with others to create false expenses and engage in corrupt practices, including vandalism.
