Four devotees killed by speeding dumper in Devbhumi Dwarka

Devbhumi Dwarka witnessed a tragic accident early on Wednesday when pilgrims travelling on foot for darshan of Dwarkadhish were hit by a speeding dumper.
The incident claimed the lives of four pilgrims on the spot, while one sustained serious injuries.
According to information received, the pilgrims were part of a 'padyatra' heading to Dwarka from Kankrej and Deodar talukas of Banaskantha district.
While they were walking along the Maliya–Pipaliya highway, near a petrol pump close to Chachavarda village, a dumper coming at high speed rammed into five of them in the early hours of the morning.
The impact of the collision was severe. Four pilgrims died instantly at the accident site, while the fifth was critically injured and has been admitted to a hospital in Morbi for treatment. The deceased include two youths and two middle-aged persons.
On receiving information, the police rushed to the spot and took custody of the bodies. They were sent for for post-mortem.
The dumper driver fled the scene after the accident. Police have launched a search operation and are attempting to identify the driver using CCTV footage from nearby areas.
