As the Lok Sabha elections approach in Gujarat, the state is expected to see a range of initiatives for development projects.

Prime minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate development projects in Gujarat by the end of this year.

Gujarat is likely to get access to four projects, including the Okha-Beyt Dwarka Signature Bridge, the Surat Diamond Bourse, the Sabarmati multimodal transport hub, and the All India Institute for Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital in Rajkot.

Sabarmati Multimodal Transport Hub

Ahmedabad will get a transport hub that connects the Hub building with the Sabarmati (metre gauge) railway station and high-speed rail (HSR) stations. The Hub building will provide connectivity to HSR station, both sides of Western Railway Stations, metro station, and BRTS via foot over bridge (FOB), along with a parking area for 1,200 vehicles.

Dwarka’s new bridge

For the convenience of pilgrims who have to take a boat from Dwarka to Beyt Dwarka, a sea bridge connecting Okha to Bet Dwarka is likely to be inaugurated this year. Okha-Beyt Dwarka Signature Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge that will connect vehicular movements between Beyt Dwarka island in the Gulf of Kutch and Okha.

Gujarat’s diamond capital, Surat, is set to get a new diamond bourse this year. In July, Surat Diamond Bourse reportedly became the world’s largest office building, surpassing the US Pentagon.

Rajkot’s All India Institute for Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital foundation, which was laid two years ago, will be completed this year.
