A video showing Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) employees gambling during office hours inside government office premises has sparked outrage, prompting swift action by the corporation.

The footage, which surfaced on social media, captures a group of workers playing cards for money at the Rangeela Muster Station Machine Hall in the Dariapur ward's middle zone.

Following internal verification, AMC officials identified four of the individuals featured in the video as municipal employees.

All four, identified as Gopalbhai Kanjibhai, Jitendrabhai Arvindbhai, Sohanbhai Motibhai, and Jagdishbhai Bhikhabhai are employed as machine hall workers at the facility.

Confirming the development, an AMC spokesperson said, “The conduct of these employees amounts to serious dereliction of duty. All four have been placed under suspension with immediate effect, and a departmental inquiry has been initiated.”

The viral video, reportedly recorded during official working hours, drew strong criticism from both the public and civic leaders for misuse of government time and property.

AMC authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining discipline and accountability within the municipal workforce.

“This kind of behaviour is unacceptable in any government institution. A thorough investigation is underway, and appropriate disciplinary measures will follow,” the spokesperson added.

Further action against the accused will depend on the outcome of the departmental inquiry.
