The Ahmedabad Zone Fee Regulation Committee has slapped a fine of ₹5 lakh each on four schools in the city. The schools were served notices by the committee for not approving the fees for pre-primary education.

The schools were charging fees from the parents without the approval of the committee.

These schools are–

  1. Gems Genesis International School (GGIS)
  2. Shiv Ashish School
  3. Tulip International School
  4. Vedant International School

Following the hearing, they were ordered to pay the fine within 15 days.

As per the rules, a pre-school associated with a school has to get the fees approved by the committee. However, it was found  that a large number of schools in Ahmedabad were charging exorbitant fees despite the rule.

Following this, the fee committee issued notices to these schools and called them for a hearing.  The committee found their explanations unsatisfactory and rejected them. They were subsequently directed to pay the fine.
