Former India cricketer Jacob Martin arrested after car hits three vehicles in Vadodara

Former Indian cricketer Jacob Martin was arrested in the early hours of Monday following an alleged drink-driving incident in Vadodara, in which his car crashed into three parked vehicles.
The accident occurred at around 2.30 am on January 26 in the Punit Nagar Society area near Malhar Point on Old Padra Road.
The police reportedly stated that a car travelling at high speed rammed into three vehicles belonging to members of the same family that were parked outside the residential society.
Residents were jolted awake by a loud crash and rushed out of their homes to find an MG Hector car lodged among the parked vehicles. The impact caused panic in the neighbourhood, prompting locals to alert the police control room. Officials from Akota police station arrived at the scene shortly afterwards.
Eyewitnesses said Martin appeared intoxicated when police officers removed him from the car.
Police officials said Martin has been booked under separate charges for driving under the influence of alcohol and for endangering lives by causing an accident, and they seized the vehicle.
Martin, who represented India in international cricket in the late 1990s, had previously been in the news over two decades ago in connection with an unrelated incident involving Indian cricketers travelling to the United Kingdom, during which his name had surfaced and he was questioned by the Delhi Police.
