A suspended deputy mamlatdar of Chotila, Vijay Chauhan, is now facing action from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over an alleged land scam.
In December 2023, a case was registered against Chauhan, who had allegedly misused government land for personal gains. It was found that he had tampered with official land records and engaged in corruption, leading to his suspension.
Reports indicate that Chauhan had been under investigation for several years. In 2018, complaints were filed against him for alleged irregularities in land transactions. However, the case gained momentum in 2023 when financial transactions linked to his assets raised suspicion.
The ED has now started probing the financial transactions of Chauhan, suspecting large sums of money laundering and illegal asset accumulation. Officials are also investigating whether other government employees were involved in similar practices.
