Gujarat’s former deputy chief minister Nitin Patel finds himself in the thick of controversy after an audio clip of the DyCM threatening a local BJP worker has been doing the rounds on social media. The incident happened over the allocation of tickets for the Kadi municipality elections.
In the viral audio, Patel can be heard reprimanding BJP worker Rakesh Patel, saying, “Have I wronged your family? I have received your details from the LIB (Local Intelligence Bureau). I am sparing you as you are from Manipur (Gujarat). It will be good for to stay within your limits; I don’t need your advice.”
The former Mehsana MLA further threatened, “Are you from the Laththa family? If I reveal the 30-35-year history of the Laththa family, you won’t be able to live in this village. So, stop everything and stay within your limits. You don’t own Kadi. Have I handed everything over to you? Come face to face.”
Reacting to the clip, the opposition Congress party alleged, “This incident proves that the LIB provides private information to BJP leaders. Citizens and traders who raise their voice against BJP’s blackmail are being silenced. If a former deputy CM can obtain private details from the LIB, the current government could seek call records of opposition leaders and businesspersons.”
