With elections nearing, a season of turncoats has ascended. A day after veteran Congress leader Naran Rathwa’s resignation, another Congress leader, Joita Patel, resigned from the party today.

Patel, a former member of the legislative assembly (MLA) from Dhanera constituency in Banaskantha, is currently the director and board member at Banas Dairy.

He has been a three-time MLA from the same constituency since 2012–2017.

Patel is likely to join the BJP after his resignation.

Notably, Congress leader Naran Rathwa and his son Sangram Rathwa joined the BJP along with a group of supporters on Feb 27.

The resignations of these two veteran Congress leaders come ahead of Rahul Gandhi's ’Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ scheduled for Mar 7.
