Former BJP MLA who flagged liquor issue in Gujarat expelled from party
Kesarisinh Solanki

Days after calling out alcohol consumption in Gujarat, former BJP MLA of Matar, Kesarisinh Solanki, was expelled from the party.

His suspension during the Gujarat Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) elections has triggered political tensions in the local arena.

Over the past two or three days, Solanki had launched a campaign against the police in the Matar region to shut down flourishing liquor dens.

Only Sunday, Solanki criticised law and order in the state, saying, “If the police do not shut down liquor dens, he will personally raid them.”

Taking to his Facebook account, Solanki, who is still associated with the BJP, issued an ultimatum to the police, stating that liquor dens are thriving in Kheda’s Limbasi village.

He even challenged Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi, questioning the government’s claim of strict enforcement of prohibition in Gujarat. He alleged that liquor and beer were being openly sold in Limbasi, with illegal transportation taking place via auto-rickshaws and private vehicles — all while the police looked the other way.
