The Food and Drug Regulatory Authority has launched a major enforcement drive against food adulteration in Gujarat, seizing thousands of litres of suspicious ghee and raw blending oils during targeted raids across Surat and Banaskantha districts.

Acting on targeted intelligence, regulatory teams uncovered an unlicensed manufacturing facility operating under the name 'Keval Food Product' in the Hindwa Dream Industrial Estate at Stad Pardi in Surat’s Kamrej taluka. The plant owner was manufacturing and packaging synthetic ghee under the label 'Shri Anmol Ratan Cow Ghee' inside a locked facility to conceal illegal processing activities from local inspectorial staff.

• Surplus Stock Confiscated in Surat: 5,157 litres of packaged 'Shri Anmol Ratan Cow Ghee' evaluated at ₹26.12 lakh.
• Adulteration Mediums Seized: 1,485 kg of palm oil and 285 kg of soybean oil (combined value of ₹3.63 lakh) used as base mixing agents.
• Banaskantha Recovery Metrics: 987 litres of unaccounted ghee seized in Deesa with an estimated market valuation of ₹6,22,200.
• Governing Statutory Framework: Formal confiscation and sampling executed strictly under provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

Unlicensed Unit Uncovered in Kamrej Industrial Zone

Inspectors inspecting the Kamrej premise uncovered extensive packaging materials alongside substantial reserves of vegetable fats kept for blending. The food safety department has impounded all raw inputs and finished goods found on site, while initiating legal proceedings against the unit operator for operating without a valid statutory licence.

Palanpur Circle Team Raids Multiple Outlets in Deesa

Extending the crackdown to northern Gujarat, the Palanpur Circle Team executed synchronized search operations across commercial firms in Deesa, Banaskantha. The surprise inspections led to the discovery and immediate confiscation of additional consignments of substandard dairy products being primed for market distribution.

All seized samples from both operational sites have been formally drawn and dispatched to certified state testing laboratories to determine exact chemical composition and toxic adulterants.
