A delicious extravaganza awaits Ahmedabad’s foodies, as the three-day long ‘Food for Thought Fest 2024' gears up for the opening on Mar 8 at the city’s Sabarmati Riverfront Event Centre.

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, in association with SAAG (South Asian Association for Gastronomy), is organising the event.

Highlights of the festival include captivating talks and panel discussions in the “Thought Fest” segment, featuring celebrity speakers, sports icons and authors.

With a focus on culinary conversations, cuisines, and exchange of ideas, the festival aims to celebrate the diversity of global cuisine.

Apart from food, a diverse range of activities, including celebrity chef shows, cookery masterclasses, panel discussions, and book launches are expected.

Some of the prominent personalities participating in the fest include Netflix star chef Asma Khan from London, Bangladesh TV star chef Nahid Osman, internationally acclaimed author & food critic Rashmi Uday Singh, chef Manjit Gill, chef Suvir Saran, celebrity chef Anahita Dhondy, author Rohini Rana from Nepal, Padma Shri Dr Pushpesh Pant, supermodel Lakshmi Rana, fashion designer Nikhil Mehra, Nawab Kazim Ali Khan of Rampur and Maharani Radhika Raje Gaekwad of Baroda, among others.

The food court will feature two exciting themes: A Taste of Luxury and The Regional Flavour.

Luxury hotels will provide a taste of luxury and showcase their top seven dishes, served in tasting portions and priced between ₹150 and ₹550. Curated street food vendors will present regional cuisines.

The festival is set to unveil three distinct pavilions – the Royal Pavilion featuring cuisines of royal families from Balasinore, Gondal, Dhenkanal, and Limbdi; a Spiritual Pavilion serving temple Bhog from Puri and Vrindavan; and a Wellness Pavilion with modern Indian cuisine based on Ayurvedic principles.

The Coffee Pavilion will offer a unique journey from coffee plant to freshly brewed coffee.

On all three days, participants can join diverse sessions, workshops, engage in contemporary issues, learn from top regional chefs, explore food-related topics, and savour international food from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
