Five injured as BRTS bus rams into divider, collides with auto late at night in Ahmedabad

In a late-night accident near Baliyakaka Crossroads in the Rakhial area of Ahmedabad, a BRTS (Bus Rapid Transit System) bus lost control and climbed over a divider, colliding head-on with an oncoming auto-rickshaw. The mishap took place around 11 pm on Wednesday, leaving five persons injured.
According to preliminary reports, the BRTS bus was speeding when the driver reportedly lost control near the intersection. The bus veered onto the central divider, breaking through the protective railing, and rammed into an auto-rickshaw approaching from the opposite direction.
The impact left the rickshaw mangled and the five passengers onboard including the driver sustained injuries. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with debris strewn across the road and bystanders rushing to assist the victims.
Emergency services arrived promptly, and the injured were transported to a nearby hospital by a 108 ambulance service. Their condition is reported to be stable.
The incident caused panic among local residents, many of whom had stepped out to assist or watch from balconies, alarmed by the loud crash. Locals have expressed concern over rash driving by public transport vehicles, particularly along this stretch of the BRTS corridor.
H division of traffic police have launched an investigation into the accident, and efforts are underway to determine whether mechanical failure or driver negligence led to the crash. The BRTS driver has been detained for questioning.
