Five die of heart attack in Saurashtra in a day, including a 23-year-old

In an ever-increasing trend of deaths due to heart attacks in the state, another day brought the unfortunate news of heart attack-induced deaths of five, just in Saurashtra.
Just a day before, Rajkot saw the unfortunate demise of the 22-year-old doctor. Today, another youth, 23, succumbed to a heart attack at his home in Rajkot.
Additionally, four deaths related to heart attacks were reported from Jasdan, Bhanvad, and Kalavad, making it to five deaths in a day in the Saurashtra region.
The first incident reported was from Rajkot’s Bhagwatipara, where Tanvir Harun Lakhani, 23, was brought to Civil Hospital after falling unconscious. Lakhani was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, and the police have also started an investigation into the matter.
In Jasdan, Raidhan Metajiya, 40, originally from Veraval, complained of chest pain and was brought to Rajkot Civil Hospital late at night. He was, too, declared dead on arrival. The police revealed that the death was due to a heart attack.
In Bhanvad’s Joshipura village, Kheraj Sakhra, 45, also lost his life to a heart attack, and the police were informed about the incident.
Pankaj, a 50-year-old farmer from the Nikava village of Jamnagar’s Kalavad taluka also complained of chest pain at his home and later died after being taken to the hospital. In the second such incident in Kalavad, an elderly man who was attending a small farmland also reportedly died of a heart attack.
According to medical sources, with the mercury dropping in winter, the chances of a heart attack increase as the vessels that supply blood to the heart shrink in the cold season, therefore, it is advisable to take utmost care about heart health in winter.
