Five booked for booze party at PG flat in Ahmedabad

In a late afternoon crackdown, Satellite police on Sunday detained five individuals, four men and one woman, after they were found hosting a party involving illegal consumption of alcohol at a private flat near Shivranjani crossroads. The accused were allegedly consuming Indian-made foreign liquor without possessing the required permit, in violation of Gujarat’s prohibition law.

The incident came to light around 3.15 pm on June 29, when the city control room received a complaint about a group of youths, including men and women, reportedly drinking, creating a ruckus, and using foul language inside a paying guest accommodation at Sangath Tower, near Lokmanya Tilak College.

Responding to the alert, Satellite police staff on patrol duty in a PCR van reached the location. Upon arrival at flat number 1001, officers found that multiple people had gathered in the sitting area. The room reportedly contained empty liquor bottles, plastic glasses, and food packets, items typically associated with alcohol consumption.

A search was conducted, and two sealed bottles of vodka were recovered from the premises. None of the occupants possessed a valid liquor permit. A total of eight people, including the residents and guests, were present at the flat. Out of which, five were reportedly found in an intoxicated state. While three individuals claimed they had not consumed alcohol. Officers noted the smell of liquor on the breath of several individuals and recorded their statements.

Police have registered a case under various sections of the Gujarat Prohibition Act against those involved. The investigation is ongoing, and further legal action will follow based on forensic examination and medical reports.
