First COVID related death in Ahmedabad after three years 320 active cases reported in Gujarat

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Gujarat has crossed 320 on Sunday. Among the states with the highest number of active cases, Gujarat ranks fourth after Kerala, Maharashtra, and Delhi. In the last 24 hours alone, Gujarat has recorded an increase of 55 active cases. According to information received, this is the first COVID-related death in Ahmedabad after 3 years.

Ahmedabad’s active COVID cases

As of Sunday, out of Gujarat’s 320 active cases, 163 are in Ahmedabad. On a single day, May 31, Ahmedabad reported 35 new cases of COVID-19. A 46-year-old woman, a resident of Danilimda undergoing treatment at L G Hospital has died. Currently, 163 patients are receiving treatment for COVID-19 in Ahmedabad.

COVID-19 cases in Ahmedabad showed a concerning increase during the month of May. A total of 230 cases were reported from Ahmedabad during the month. Of these, 56 patients have recovered and been discharged. At present, 163 patients are under treatment for COVID-19.

For the last two days, the city has been reporting more than 30 new cases daily.

West Zone – 45

North-West Zone – 43

South-West Zone – 33

South Zone – 18

Central Zone – 7

North Zone – 2

On May 31, 35 new cases were reported, and 17 patients were discharged. COVID-19 cases were also confirmed from both the boys’ and girls’ hostels of LG Hospital.

In response to the situation, isolation wards have been reactivated at L G Hospital, Vadilal Hospital, Shardaben Hospital, and SVP Hospital.

While COVID-19 cases are on the rise, the Gujarat Health Department and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation are reportedly trying to conceal accurate data while states like Maharashtra, Delhi, and Kerala are regularly updating the public with transparent COVID-19 information.
