Fire kills seven at Surat factory, 24 sustain injuries
It took more than 10 fire fighting vehicles almost seven hours to bring the fire under control.

A deadly fire broke out at the factory of a chemical manufacturing company, Aether Industries Ltd (AIL), in the Sachin GIDC area of Surat in the wee hours of Nov 29 at around 2 a.m.
At least 24 employees were burned in this fire, while seven were untraceable, following which a search operation was launched. The skeletal remains of all seven employees have been found today.
The burnt victims are undergoing treatment at Sanjeevani hospital in Sachin GIDC while three are said to be critical.
According to preliminary reports, tetrahydrofuran, an inflammable chemical material, leaked in a storage tank, which caused a blast.
Around 150 people, including employees and contractual workers, were present inside the factory when the fire broke out, as per reports.
More than 10 fire fighting vehicles (tenders) reached the spot. It took almost seven hours to bring the fire under control.
AIL shared a statement on social media, “At this tragic moment we reaffirm our resolve to uphold welfare of our people. Aetherians, We shall overcome!”
The company, listed on the national stock exchange, also saw its shares tank 10% in two days owing to this fatal incident, further extending its losses on the second consecutive day today.
