Fire erupts in Bharuch GIDC due to boiler blast, 2 dead, over 18 injured

A major industrial accident occurred on Tuesday night at Vishalyakar PharmaChem Company, located in the Saykha GIDC area of Bharuch district in Gujarat. A sudden and powerful boiler explosion triggered a massive fire that rapidly spread throughout the facility.
According to reports, two workers lost their lives, while more than 18 others, including employees from nearby companies, sustained injuries in the incident.
The explosion was so intense that its sound was heard from a great distance, creating panic across the area. The blast’s impact also damaged the structures of four to five nearby factories.
Firefighters rushed to the scene immediately after being alerted and managed to bring the blaze under control after several hours of effort. Once the fire was contained, cooling operations were carried out to prevent reignition.
Authorities feared that a few individuals might still be trapped inside the factory, prompting a search and rescue operation and raising concerns that the death toll could rise further.
Local administrative officials, including the mamlatdar and other government teams, reached the site to oversee the situation and begin an investigation.
Police have registered a case of accidental death and initiated legal procedures. The bodies of the two deceased workers were sent to a government hospital for post-mortem examination, after which they will be handed over to their families.
