According to the fire department, the blaze was reported around 6 pm in the duct line on the third floor of Sumel-1, C Block, located behind the bustling New Cloth Market. Upon receiving the alert, fire control room officials immediately dispatched multiple teams to the site.

Fire tenders from the Panchkuva fire station were rushed to the spot, while additional support in the form of one ‘Gajraj’ vehicle each was mobilised from Maninagar, Jamalpur and Shahpur fire stations to assist in the firefighting and rescue operations.
