Fire breaks out in laundry section of SVP Hospital in Ahmedabad, quickly brought under control

A fire broke out on Monday morning in the laundry department of SVP Hospital, located in the Ellisbridge area of the city, triggering brief panic on the premises.

According to reports, the Ahmedabad Fire Department’s control room received an alert about the blaze in the hospital’s laundry section. Three fire tenders from the Navrangpura fire station were immediately dispatched to the spot.

Firefighters found that the flames had erupted near the electric duct, with smoke billowing from the area. The team swiftly doused the fire and brought the situation under control.

Senior officials, including the additional chief fire officer and divisional fire officer, rushed to the hospital and launched a probe into the cause of the incident.

For safety reasons, entry and movement inside the hospital were restricted for about half an hour. Though the blaze was contained without major damage, power supply to the affected section was cut off. Teams from the fire and electricity departments are carrying out a detailed investigation.
