A major fire broke out in the Panchkuva Revdi Bazaar area of Kalupur on Wednesday, triggering panic and disrupting activity in one of Ahmedabad’s busiest commercial zones.

According to officials, at least five to six shops were engulfed in flames. The fire brigade was alerted immediately after the blaze intensified.

More than 10 fire tenders were rushed to the spot, and firefighting operations are currently underway on a war footing to bring the situation under control.

No casualties have been reported so far, officials said, though substantial damage to property is feared.

Revdi Bazar is a prominent textile market, and the presence of large quantities of stock has raised concerns about the fire spreading further.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation is underway.

This is a developing story.
