A major fire broke out in an open parking plot near Science City in Ahmedabad on Wednesday afternoon, gutting six vehicles and damaging several others. No casualties were reported in the incident, officials said.

According to the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services officials, the blaze was reported around 1.36 pm in an open parking area located opposite Mangaldeep Apartments in the Science City area.

Fire officials said five fire-fighting vehicles were rushed to the spot soon after the alert was received. The responding team included a Mini Fighter vehicle, two fire officer vehicles, two Gajraj water tenders and a crew of around 15 personnel.

Firefighters managed to bring the flames under control within about half an hour, though the cooling operation continued for nearly an hours to prevent the fire from reigniting.

Officials from the Thaltej Fire Station said six parked vehicles were completely destroyed in the blaze, while several other vehicles parked nearby sustained minor damage.

No injuries were reported as the vehicles were unoccupied at the time of the incident.

Preliminary findings suggest that the fire may have started due to a short circuit in one of the parked vehicles, possibly aggravated by the intense afternoon heat, before spreading to nearby vehicles. Fire officials said the exact cause of the blaze will be determined after a detailed investigation.
