A minor fire broke out at the Shivranjani BRTS bus station in Ahmedabad on Wednesday morning, allegedly due to a short circuit in an electrical line above the ticket counter, officials said.

The incident occurred around 11.45 am when smoke was first noticed emanating from the ceiling of the bus stand. According to officials, the ticket operator on duty detected the smoke and promptly alerted others, leading to the immediate evacuation of passengers present at the station.

The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) was informed shortly thereafter, and three fire tenders were rushed to the spot. A team of around 10 fire personnel carried out the firefighting operation, bringing the situation under control within approximately 30 minutes.

Fire officials said no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. However, the section around the ticket counter sustained damage, particularly to electrical fittings and electronic equipment installed at the site.

Preliminary findings indicate that the blaze was triggered by a short circuit in the wiring above the ticketing area. Authorities added that a detailed investigation will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage.

Officials noted that timely detection of the smoke and swift evacuation helped avert a major mishap at the busy transit point.
