Fire breaks out at commercial complex on Science City Road, over 50 people rescued

A fire broke out on Friday afternoon in the pantry room of a commercial complex, Parishram Elegance, located on Science City Road in Ahmedabad, prompting a major rescue operation by the fire department. Officials said more than 50 people were safely evacuated, and no casualties were reported.
According to fire brigade officials, the control room received multiple messages around 3.04 pm about smoke emerging from the complex and reports of several people trapped inside, including some stuck in a lift. Acting on the alert, the department rushed 8 to 10 fire tenders, along with senior officers, to the spot.
Firefighters began evacuating residents and office-goers, using ladders and a hydraulic platform. Around 25 people were directly rescued by fire brigade personnel, while several others managed to climb down the staircases on their own. The team eventually evacuated more than 50 people from the building.
The fire is believed to have started in the pantry area of one of the units, though officials said the exact cause is yet to be determined. A detailed investigation has been initiated.
Visuals from the scene showed dense smoke emerging from the upper floors as firefighters worked to control the blaze and bring people to safety.
A senior fire officer said, “Our teams responded immediately after receiving the message. Some individuals were trapped in the lift, and rescue operations were carried out using ladders and the hydraulic platform. There have been no casualties reported in the incident.”
Firefighting and cooling operations continued into the evening.
